My parents were staying in their mobile home in Larochette in Luxembourg
and the original plan was that we would go there tomorrow but at half past
six in the afternoon my girlfriend (now my wife) suggested we could go now.
I liked that idea so we threw all our luggage in the back of our Fiat 131
Mirafiori Familiale and less then an hour later we were on our way to
Luxembourg.

My Fiat, just before we left
I bought this Fiat after my Yamaha SR500 was wrecked by a lady driver
who "did not see that motorcyclist......"
I had my ancle broken and the bike was a total loss. I could only
borrow money if I would buy a car instead of a bike.
OK, so I'll have to drive a car but then it has to be something
special.....
I bought some paint, a big amplifier, big speakers, a 27mc radio
and nice hubcaps. Then I asked my neighbour if I could use his garage
and I changed the gold colored dull family car in what looked like a

Before we left, I filled the tank and the we drove off. From The Hague we
drove past Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven and Weert to
Maastricht. We filled the tank again and crossed the border to Belgium.
Past Leige (Luik), Verviers and Spa we drove to Franchorchamps. Before we
reached Franchorchamps, the road-surface suddenly ended. No signs or warning
lights. We just landed 15 or 20 centimeter lower on the gravel surface where
the road had been before......
After ten or fifteen kilometer gravel riding in the pitch dark, we reached
a normal road again. Via Malmédy, st Vith, Diekirch and Ettelbruck we drove
to Larochette and at fifteen minutes past midnight we arrived at the
camping.

After our midnight arrival, we had a coffee and went to sleep. On friday
morning, after breakfast, we got in the car again. Together with my sister,
we drove to the center of Larochette and had a coffee at the local "boulangerie
pâtisserie" (a bakery where you can get coffee and cakes). Later when my
brother, my other sister and an aunt arrived on their bicycles, we have
coffee and cake together.

In the afternoon, Erika and I went for a ride through the nice landscape and
halfway, we parked the car to do some hiking near the "Champignon". A lonely
rock on a hillside.

On Saturday we went to Echternach, an old town on the border to Germany. The
road to Echternach is one of the nicest roads I know.
In Echternach, we visited the St Willibrord Basilica and the tomb of St
Willibrord.

In the afternoon, we returned to the camping in Larochette and went hiking
in the forrest behind the camping together.
