My alarmclock was set at six in the morning and at seven o'clock, my
friend Robert and I left for a one day trip to Luxembourg.
Robert came to my house in The Hague on his Honda pan European ST1100.
After a coffee we left The Hague and via Rotterdam, Breda and Eindhoven
we went to Maastricht.
At nine o'clock, we stopped at Maastricht Airport for a cup of coffee
and apple pie.
From Maastricht we went via Liege, the racing circuit of
Franchorchamps, Malmedy and St.Vith to Diekirch in Luxembourg.
At the border between Belgium and Luxembourg, we made some pictures.
Most pictures in this tripreport are made by Robert. He wanted to
try his new camera on this trip.

Our bikes (and me) at the Luxembourg border
From the border we went to Diekirch, halfway between the Northern
border of Luxembourg and the city Luxembourg. From Diekirch we drove
to Vianden to see the castle.

When we had enough pictures of the castle, we went to the bordertown
Echternach. We arrived at half past twelve and parked the bikes on
the market square in the center of Echternach, a very nice square with
lots of cafés and restaurants and a populair meeting place for bikers.

lots of bikes on the square
There were ofcourse a lot of modern bikes but we realy liked the classic
Belgian Saroléa that was owned and riden by a biker from Luxembourg.

Admiring this classic bike
We were getting hungry and fortunately there were plenty restaurants
around the market square so we found a table on a terrace. Robert
ordered a meat sandwich with fried egg and I had a plate with very
tasty spaghetti. I know, you have to eat it with a spoon and a fork
but I am a stubborn Dutchman and I want to eat with a fork and knife
so I got my buckknife and cut the spaghetti.

Eating spaghetti my way.
From Echternach we went on one of my favorite roads in Luxembourg, the
road from Echternach to Larochette. I realy enjoyed riding this
wonderful road and when we arrived in Larochette we had a coffee and
cake at a terrace in the sun.

In Larochette
Then it was time to get riding again. We got on the bikes and went in
the direction of the city Luxembourg. On the road to Luxembourg, we
stopped in a beautiful bend in the road to get some action pictures
of us on the bikes. Remember, one of the reasons for this trip was to
try Roberts new camera !

In the city Luxembourg we went to the center and crossed the "Pont
Adolphe", the big bridge over the Pétrusse. Then we parked the bikes
and walked into the valley under the bridge.
While wewere walking in the valley under the bridge, we were shocked
when we heared a cry and we saw someone jumping from the bridge......
Then we saw the cord.... it was a bungee jumper.

We enjoyed the park in the valley and the very nice weather. It was
about 25 degrees Celcius. After a while we went back to the bikes and
started our ride back home.
From Luxembourg we went to Dinant. In Dinant we had some delicious
Belgium fries.
Near Dinant, we had swapped bikes. Robert got on my BMW R80 and I got
on his Honda Pan European. The Honda Pan European is very fast, very
comfortable and feels very stable but nevertheless I prefer my BMW.
Our latest coffeestop was near the border between Antwerp and Breda
and at eleven o'clock in the evening I was back home.
