Together with my aunt and oncle, I went to a livestock auction in
Billingbey (I'm not sure...) near Bracknell. It was the first
time in my life I was at a livestock auction and it was very
interesting. My uncle and aunt bought two cows for their farm.

In hailsham, I bought a single barrel 12 bore shotgun. It was
fourty-seven pound, including some ammunition and a cleaningset.
At the local police station, I got a "visitors shotgun certificate"
that allowed me to use the shotgun on my uncle and aunt their farm.
(Later, when they moved to South Africa, they sold the shotgun for
me)

When the weather was nice we often had a BBQ on a field, a few hundred
meters from the farmhouse. With a lot of friends and some home made
apple cider, we had a good time.

I'm on this picture too !
I made a lot of little trips in East Sussex. It is great to ride
the winding roads. So much more fun then the straight roads at home.

My Yamaha SR500
My uncle and aunts neighbour is a member of parlement. he has a house
in London and a house in High Hurstwood. Because he is most of the
time in London, he is happy if we keep an eye on his house here and
we can use his swimming pool, als long as we leave it clean and tidy.
After a day working on the farm, it is very nice to jump into the
swimming pool !

All good times come to an end now it is time to go home. I get the bike
ready, lube the chain, check the engine oil and early on Tuesday morning
I say goodbye to my uncle, aunt and nephews and get on my bike.

Getting the bike ready for the trip home
Via Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Maidstone I drove to Sheerness. I had a
reservation for the eleven o'clock (local time) ferry to Vlissingen so I
had to be there at ten.
Near the M20, I got on the wrong road but soon I found the correct route
again. The Yamaha was acting strange too. One time it stalled but I could
start it again and made it in time for the ferry.

Sailing home with the Olau-line to Vlissingen
On the ferry, I secured the bike myself and then I went to the higher
decks to get something to eat. The food on the ferry was expensive but
good. I enjoyed the boattrip and at half past seven (Dutch time) the
ferry arrived in the harbour of Vlissingen.
After I filled my tank, I got on the bike and rode over the A58, over
the "Zeelandbrug" near Zierikzee and through the Beneluxtunnel near
Rotterdam on my way to Voorburg and at a quarter past nine in the
evening, I was home again.
The bike was running very bad. I did not dare to go faster then about
eighty kilometers/hour and my revcounter stopped working too so I was
not so happy with the bike then.
Epilog
After a tune-up at Mammoet Motors in Haastrecht, the bike was running
fine, the tank was not leaking anymore and the bike was ready for the
next trip, to Switzerland and
Monaco.
