At the end of Januari 2005 I was asked to assist in driving a Hyundai Galloper
4x4, that was bought in Holland for an aid organisation with projects in Albania,
the OostEuropa Zending.
This car had to be driven from Holland to Albania. An Albanian missionary,
who's car broke down, needed a new car and the roads in Albania are not so very good
so it has to be a 4x4.
With the help of sponsors the OostEuropa Zending (East Europe Mission) bought this
Hyundai Galloper II for him, and with two others, I'll drive it to Albania.
I have never been in Albania so I did not have to think long about it.
At work I explained the situation and was allowed a few days vacation so
then the preparation began.
The Albanian flag
I checked at the Albanian embassy if I needed a visum but I didn't so that
was easy. I bought some maps from Italy and Albania and asked the
ANWB about the road conditions.
No problem.
The embassy lady told me that although I didn't need a visum, every foreigner
had to pay 10 euro to get into Albania. She forgot to tell me that every
foreigner also had to pay 10 euro to get out of Albania again so we found
out about that on our way home at the airport :-)

Ben, me, Rien and the Galloper II
At Wednesday, Februari 9, I met my co-drivers, Ben and Rien, at my house
as we left for our 2000 km trip to Albania.
