A trip to EuroDisney on the BMW

Page 1 2
October 23 to 25, 2007

What happened
Actualy, the trip should start on Monday, October 22. In that case it would not be on my website because it al started as a organised bus trip to EuroDisney and Paris with my wife and children.
At the site of Peter Langhout reizen, my wife found a nice looking trip. First day to Paris with a boat tour, second day to Euro Disney, third day to Disney too and a guided walk in Paris in the evening and the last day a visit to Paris again and then home.
We had to be at the station in Bergen op Zoom at half past six (in the morning !!!) to drive to Nuland, picking up people along the route. From Nuland another bus would drive us to Paris.

Things went a little different. On Sundaymorning I was feeling very sick and I had a headache. I stayed in bed all day but could not eat a thing without throwing it out again. Monday morning I was still feeling very bad and a whole day in a bus, while being sick is not my idea of a perfect holiday so I decided to stay home and let the rest of my family go without me.

Tuesday
After a very quiet Monday, a good night sleep and a quiet morning I was feeling much better so I decided to go to EuroDisney anyway. The hotel and Disney tickets were already payed for.
I checked the BMW, lubricated my chain and loaded my luggage on the bike, I had no GPS mounting set on the BMW so I used my map-pocket in the tankbag instead.

Ready to go

I left home at half past eleven, filled my tank at the Texaco and left for Antwerp. From Antwerp I drove to Brussels and from Brussels to Mons, near the French border.

Between Brussels and the French border

After about 180 km I was almost at the border when I saw an Esso gas station. It was not very warm so I could use a hot coffee. I stopped, filled my tank and got a nice hot cappuccino for 1 euro. After a chat with the friendly Belgian station attendant, I got on my bike again and crossed the border with France.

From South of Brussels it was a nice rolling landscape, some forest, small villages and some farmland. Very nice to ride. Because I programmed my Tomtom NOT to use tollroads, I drove on the N2, through a lot of typical French villages. Much nicer then the Peage (French toll road).

Halfway Belgium and Paris on the N2

At first I had programmed the hotel in the GPS but when I saw I would be there a little past five, I decided to go to Disney village first instead of waiting a few hours in a hotel lobby.
Having a GPS is realy making life easy. Disney Resort was as a "Usefull place" in the Tomtom so it was very easy to find and less then an hour later I was at the roundabout in front of Euro Disney.

Disneyland Paris

Before I parked the bike in a big garage, I made a picture and then I left the bike to walk to Disney village.
The rest of the family was in the Disney park but came to Disney village later so we could have a coffee (and I had a nice hotdog with french fries for diner).

Disney village entry

Before they arrived, I walked around in Disney village and made some pictures of a very nice old Corvette. A real original classic car.

While we were drinking coffee, a Haloween show started on the stage next to where we were. First an acrobat and later a lady magician with a nice show.

It was getting dark now so I wanted to ride to the hotel so I got my bike from the garage (4.20 euro for less then two hours) and used the Tomtom again to find the hotel, the "Comfort Inn Lagny sur Marne" at 21 Rue Jacquard, 77400 Lagny Sur Marne.

It was about ten kilomter from Disneyland but without the Tomtom it would be hard to find. Even with the Tomtom I did not found it first. The Tomtom told me I reached my destination but I did not see a hotel....... I saw a car wash, a busstation and some other companies. Then I saw, hidden behind the busstation, the hotel.

Comfort Inn Hotel

I parked my bike behind the hotel and walked to the reception desk. I explained about the bus I missed and asked if I could park my bike on the veranda behind the hotel. That was no problem so now I had a safe parking for my bike.

Safe parking for the BMW

After half an hour or so, the bus arrived and we carried my luggage and helmet to our room on the second floor (third floor for my American friends). After a coffee in the lobby we went to bed for a good night sleep.

Wednesday
It was breakfast from eight to half past eight AM and the bus left at nine. The breakfast was not bad at all and after taking some pictures of the hotel, we went to the bus to go to Disney again.

After half an hour we arrived at the big bus parking and walked to Disney village. The children had their own tickets so we told them not to miss the bus at half past seven PM and let them go their way. We checked out some shops in Disney village because I was looking for a new coat.
I did not found what I was looking for so we walked to the entrance of Disney Studios. On our last visit to Disney, a few years ago, it was only the Disneyland park and not the Studios so I was curious what the Disney Studios would be.
